![]() The olde story of an oh-so-very-adept David versus an oh-so-very-sleepy Goliath?įlame really really does not in any way at all deserve to become just another Quantel or Softimage, unless someone like Blackmagic manages to buy them up. Such a shame as I think this new version is such an exciting version that should be magnified and made magnificent by some well placed and energetic marketing. The smaller companies like Blackmagic and The Foundry have a much smaller stable of products, but their who worlds revolve around their smaller stable of products where, in comparison, for Autodesk, Flame seems to be a small and insignificant spark. This feels like a real dark ages in terms of your product marketing. It is not an overhead but the oxygen which will help your product breathe and grow. Where are your marketing people in Vegas? The marketing in your company really needs to wake up to to the genius that you have lying in your product, but instead there seems to nobody singing for you. I was seriously not expecting such deafening silence. I was really expecting some of these new machine learning tools to have some fanfare but instead it is like a tree falling down with nobody hearing it. You still have a number of very experienced existing users who can be plugged into for energy supplies to help give a sense of Flame in the field, but you need to use them to reach out to the new users before those energies run out and are spent. I don't know if is the size of Autodesk that makes it not shoot sufficiently for its own products, but at the very least hire back the old technical specialists and have some people who can really showcase Flame and make it breathe to new users and help to give existing users some confidence in the stability of the offering. Small stables seem to love their horses more? ![]() Even Avid seems to be trying a little harder with their redesign and Blackmagic, as always, knows how to give a little glam to their product. Whilst it has been sad that the past few versions have had no online NAB/IBC demos, this new version really does deserve some push and energy. For quite a whilst now there's been really nothing online to showcase what Flame can do and now not even with a new version that you should be really really signing from the hilltops. What happened to all that Smoke is changing everything type campaigns and those fix it in post marketing projects and NAB/IBC online showcases that can then go up onto YouTube and have an afterlife that goes far beyond their emission. No sense of what Flame is doing in the world, no sense of how this new version can make life better and might be used in the field beyond some pretty bog-standard auto press releases. This 2020 version of Flame is one of the best for years and there appears to be nothing at all to make a splash with this fish. Lions (product design) lead by donkeys (product marketing). There was apparently going to be some movement and some news on Monday, according to Facebook, and instead there's just a sad and lonely photo of a small statue at a provincial looking airport lounge and then nothing. Seriously, you have to reach out to new users and make some effort to magnify your acquisitions with new versions.
